Calapan City-Fourteen
(14) Alternative Learning System (ALS) mobile teachers from the
City of Davao Del Norte visited the City to immerse with the Out
of School Youths (OSYs) held last November 19-24 at Barangay
Ilaya.
The
contingent was headed by the Education Program Specialist II of
the Bureau of Alternative Learning Center Office Evelyn S.
Corporal.
Dubbed as
the “Usapan at Aksyon ALS Ngayon,” the program aims to give
trainings and expertise to OSYs of Calapan City.
According to
Isidra Despi, ALS Education Supervisor and Regional ALS Trainer
who also performs as the cluster head, the immersion of mobile
teachers assigned in the remote areas is a dangerous job but a
fulfilling one too.
Meanwhile,
Florina
Madrid,
City ALS Supervisor, mentioned that more than 30 OSYs and adults
learners can get their accreditation and equivalence test if they
can pass the exams and wherein they can be accelerated to high
school and college.
It will be
remembered that in 2006, the Project USAPAN or Usapan at “Aksyon
para sa ALS Ngayon” was launched to provide opportunity and
trainings for ALS mobile teachers. In the said mechanism, mobile
teachers were gathered for information exchange, skills training,
fellowship and human resource development activities like
symposium, materials development, sharing teambuilding, field
study, staff exchange, scholarships, etc.
The 2007
immersion and exchange program for ALS Mobile Teachers of the
Department of Education-Bureau of Alternative Learning System is a
hands-on exercise in ALS program implementation wherein the group
of ALS Mobile Teachers from the different regions in the country
will immerse to their group assignments in districts and barangays
of other regions. The specific tasks performed by the teachers
were the Advocacy and Social Mobilization, Literacy Mapping, Entry
Assessment of Prospective Learners and Organization of Learners
and Conduct of Learning Sessions. |
