Calapan City- The City Government of Calapan officials and
staff headed by City Administrator Atty. Antonio “Jojo” S. Perez,
Jr. representing Calapan City Mayor Paulino Salvador “Doy” C.
Leachon, joined the celebration of the Christ the King last
November 25.
Pope Pius XI started the Feast of Christ the King or the
Solemnity of Christ the King on
December
11,1925 through his encyclical “Quas Primas”, to face and address
the growing atheist communism and secularism in the world which
resulted to the people, turning away from their faith with Jesus
Christ.
Since then, the feast was celebrated annually by
Christians, Episcopalians, Presbyterians and other Lutherans and
Methodists. The feast is being held yearly on the last Sunday
before the 27th of November.
Every year, the feast is being celebrated by Calapeno-Christians
in the city as a way of expressing their respect, remembrance and
giving glory to Jesus Christ.
The November 27 Feast was officiated by Sto. Nino Parish
Priest Fr. Nestor Adalia. A mass was celebrated before the actual
procession of the Sto. Nino while lawyer Perez lead the
consecration and offering of the City of
Calapan to
Jesus Christ at the old City Hall.
In an
interview with Atty. Perez, he mentioned that the support of the
City Government of Calapan is not only to take part in the
celebration of the Feast of Christ the King but is also one way of
giving thanks to Jesus Christ for sparing Calapan City from the
mishaps brought by super typhoon Mina which recently devastated
many areas in the country. |
