The Leachon Administration is on the verge of fulfilling its promise to provide housing for its employees and relocation for urban informal settlers.

City Environment and Natural Resources Officer and housing and relocation point person Wilfredo Landicho revealed that the topographical survey of the 9-hectare site in Sitio Culo-Culo, Brgy. Bulusan has been concluded and the site development of the said area will push through within the first quarter of this year.  Site development includes the establishment of access roads, creation of electric at water source, identifying open spaces and construction of other basic facilities needed by a community. The City Government of Calapan will be handling and funding the undertaking.

Target beneficiaries of the program include informal settlers on riverbanks from Brgy. Ibaba up to Brgy. Sta. Isabel, employees of the City Government of Calapan, members of the Philippine National Police and employees of other government branches and institutions. For informal settlers, the City Government enlisted the help of Gawad Kalinga, a non governmental organization. The City Government will identify the beneficiaries while Gawad Kalinga will provide for the materials and funds for the houses.

For City Government employees, PNP personnel and other government workers, the funding will be coursed through with the Government Service Insurance System or with Pag-ibig.

If everything will go as planned, full implementation of the program will commence by July of 2008.
